Little Sand Fire Final Update – July 9, 2012 5:00 PM

San Juan National Forest

Command of the Little Sand Fire will return to the Pagosa Springs Ranger District at 0800 Tuesday, July 10.  Continued cool, wet weather has reduced fire behavior to isolated smoldering in heavy fuels. This weather is expected to continue for the next several days. Full containment is expected by July 27, 2012.  All fire line and structure protection rehabilitation is complete.  Local resources will continue to monitor the fire, if warranted, an expanded suppression organization can be formed rapidly to deal with any threats to the containment area.  For additional questions, please call the Pagosa Ranger District at (970) 264-2268.

Additional information on closures on the San Juan National Forest may be found on the Forest web site at http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/sanjuan/alerts-notices.
