Fire Operations report minimal activity on the Little Sand Fire so far today, except for the area around the confluence of the Piedra River and Davis Creek. They are reporting the fire is making significant runs uphill on the west side of Davis Creek and is nearly to an area treated by prescribed burning in 2008. Fire behavior is expected to change at that point due to a vegetation change. A heavy helicopter is working along the Piedra River to keep the fire north of the river and discourage spotting to the south. While there is a Red Flag Warning, no thunderstorms are in the area, but there are signs of cumulus beginning to build.
